THE LABORATORY
(A
Poem)
Creator
of the sky and sea, Of tiger, monkey, fish and bee.
Lord
God of all that lives I dare, To offer up my humble prayer.
I've woken from my fitful sleep. With heavy heart and sorrow deep.
I dreamed of days when I was free, And played and gamboled in the trees.
Alone imprisoned in this cage, I try to calm my fear and rage.
How can I face another day, Of being tortured in this way?
Soon
they'll come for me again, And take me to their place of pain.
Please tell me Lord for I don't know, Why do these people hate me so?
They've cut my vocal cords and tied, a heavy bandage round my eyes.
I cannot see, I cannot scream, This all seems like a frightful dream.
T'was
yesterday that day of dread, They took my friend, and now he's dead.
I tremble Lord, it's plain to see, Today the victim will be me.
I hear their footsteps coming near, O Lord my heart is full of fear.
I need you more than I can tell, To free me from this earthly hell.
Great
God who brought the world to birth, And all the creatures of the earth.
Who made the stars, the moon, the sun, Please let me die before they come.

"3 animals are killed every second in
laboratories
in the United States...
That means 15 innocent creatures died in the time it took you
to read
that sentence and often paid for with your tax dollars."

CHEMICAL
TESTING:
Caustic
chemicals are forced into their eyes and applied to their raw,
shaved skin to see if it corrosive and burn them. Laboratory workers lock
them
in restraining devices so they are unable to move while chemicals burn into
their eyes
and
skin (they are given no sedatives or pain killers to ease their suffering) and
sometimes
break their necks and backs in a desperate struggle to get away.
Those
who survive are used again...until they are finally killed.
Even
though these tests are not required by law, many company's insist on
continuing
this torture. |
|
VIVISECTION:
1. the
action of cutting into or dissecting a LIVING body
2. the
practice of subjecting LIVING animals to cutting operations,
esp.
in order to advance physiological and pathological knowledge.
It
comes from two Latin roots:
"vivus"
meaning life and "sectus" meaning to cut.
Vivisection
is the cutting up of life, of living, conscious, feeling creatures.

XENOTRANSPLANTATION:
Xenotransplantation is the
transplantation of living cells, tissues and organs
from one species to another
(incl., animal to human).
This was performed in the early 20th century
and was soon abandoned
due to rapid death of the
recipient. Since the first experimental
xenotransplantation,
various organs from rabbit,
pig, goats, lambs and non-human primates were used.

SOME BIG TESTING COMPANIES:
|
|
PROCTER & GAMBLE
The
largest company known for their involvement in these inhumane practices.
They
have been written to several times with requests to stop testing on our
innocent
animals. Their response has been that they've reduced their testing 80%.
Not
good enough! 80% still means that the 20% are
still suffering and put through
tortures of many different
horrors.
9/7/99
NEWS: and now they'll be owning IAMS!
Usually
the same goes for all companies that practice in animal testing.

As far as P&G reducing their animal testing by 80%.
It
isn't good enough... 20% are still being tortured.
I

HLS
(Huntingdon Life Sciences)
Every
year approximately 180,000 animals die in Huntingdon Life
Science's
Labs from pesticides, genetically modified organisms,
herbicides,
and various other dangerous chemicals. Huntingdon Life
Sciences
has been the subject of three undercover investigations.

PFIZER, INC.
The
largest prescription and health aid producing company.
This
company is what prompted my popular statement...
"They
test on animals to help our animals"
Most
prescriptions, foods, etc... that may be recommended by your
veterinarian
for your pet are tested on animals...???

STOP EU ANIMAL TESTS
Despite a commitment to reduce the use of
animals in European laboratories by 50 per cent by the year 2000, a new
European Union (EU) chemicals policy could kill millions of animals in
horrific poisoning tests!
